while vampires bid to own her Her entire life has been spent preparing for this moment and there s a good chance she won t live beyond the night.Darius is prepared to pay any price for Juliet But he wants her forthan just her blood and her body Although that is a huge part Darius is old and as a vampire he has time on his hands He s playing the long game He s about to change everything and he needs Juliet to help him But her entire life has been spent conditioning her and he needs to break that And he hopes there s enough left but of her when he s finished I loved the world building and really enjoyed this book And I can t wait for the next one which I was surprised to discover doesn t feature Darius and Juliet but Kylan.Anyway back to this book.As I said I really enjoyed this book butJuliet annoyed me a lot of the time It s hard to be too harsh when you consider her life and her training Everything is new and totally against everything she s been taught But it seemed a little repetitive in places and she annoyed me and then I felt guilty that she d annoyed me Not so much in the beginning because I expected it but later when I felt she should have known better Maybe it s just me theI read and the older I get the less patience I have.Despite this it s a great read and now I m not so patiently waiting for the next book 3 A good start stars I m not sure why I picked up Chastely Bitten, maybe it was on one of those lists onAnyhow, I m a very picky PNR reader I tend to like the traditionally published PNR books, but I do read some independently published ones every now and then, I think it s because they usually havesex in them.I would classify this book as smut or erotica It has so much of it, it needs to be lumped into that category I have nothing against it, It has so much of it, it needs to be lumped into that category I have nothing against it, in fact, it was what I was looking for.Just Fair Warning.I like that each book focuses on a different couple SO much happens that I don t want to read another Juliet and Darius book. There are some aspects of this book I liked and there are some aspects of the book I didn t.The main problem for me was the pacing and the lack of chemistry between Juliet and Darius I found some parts a little forced and the wording a little awkward But I hope as the series continues the writing gets better.I liked the world building in this one The humans are second class citizens and it s the vampires and lycans that rule It took me awhile to figure out lycans are werewolves, why didn t the author say that, I don t know.I didn t like the hunger games aspect of the book, where 12 humans are pitted against each other and the last two standing are allowed to become vampires That was a little unoriginal for me, and I usually don t harp on stuff like that, but that doesn t happen in this book.I liked the beginning I liked that Juliet grew up to become a blood virgin Let me explain what they are, they have never taken blood or had their blood taken and they are also a virgin Was there something something between the two main characters Not really I felt like Darius picked Juliet because she was pretty, even though her docket said she spoke many languages and is very smart, but she didn t act like it.I love me a good damsel in distress, but Darius trying to train Juliet was just sad to read The writing was so forced I liked her submissive side, but when he tried to get her to think on her own, it just didn t flow with the story or it simply wasn t written well It s very apparent that Darius doesn t see humans as second class people and he has other motives and oh my gosh if you didn t get that the first time, it will be bashed into your head over and over again It was really repetitive I felt like instead of the author keep on telling me this, just let me read it Let me see what he does and what his friends do Stop telling me about the game plan, the stuff in the works, Juliet as a weapon which she wasn t.Yeah the book is really repetitive, I had to skim those parts The book was overall okay I think if it didn t have all of the smut I would have probably not finished the book I will give another book a go IntriguingI believe that is the best way to describe book 1 in the Blood Alliance Foss meticulously prepared the ground work for the world build The right information was given at the right time Great appreciation for Foss not being redundant in her explanation of this world You do have to give this book your complete attention I would not suggest this as a multi tasked read The intricacies of the book do not need to be overlooked.Deeply intelligent..Darius is beyond clever and de IntriguingI believe that is the best way to describe book 1 in the Blood world You do have to give this book your complete attention I would not suggest this as a multi tasked read The intricacies of the book do not need to be overlooked.Deeply intelligent..Darius is beyond clever and deviously patient His end game is to free humans and for them to regain their place in the world but this can only be accomplished through great sacrifice With the bond forming between him and Juliet the sacrifices are becoming too much Even he can not hide his depth of possessiveness for what is his, Juliet.Brain washed, resilient..Juliet was born and chosen as a blood virgin She has never known a man and has never given anyone her blood Juliet was raised to be submissive and obey the greater race of vampires However she is quickly learning all she thought was the truth is lies as Darius educates her on the true history of humans and guides her to think for herself Juliet is the hiccup for me on this one preventing it from being a 5 star I wanted to see a bitrebellion from her Perhaps it is too much to ask considering how she was raised, but I do wish she had questioned , including questioning her bond with Darius.Excited to read book 2 Happy reading DD 3.5 let the games begin Stars I really have no fucking clue how to rate this book cause this isn t your typical vampire read After humans lost the war and failed miserably to be top dog the Blood Alliance was born Where humans are nothan cattle where they are divided into factions Where vampires and the lycans rule with terror, manipulation, indoctrination where your choices are being a slave or death Where blood virgins are coveted, and blood day is a memorable day for all.Characters 3.5 let the games begin Stars I really have no fucking clue how to rate this book cause this isn t your Darius is vampire royalty and has been hiding for a century waiting to set long ago plans in motion The time has come I have a love hate relationship with Darius He is always alpha, and he walks an extremely fine line sometimes too fine a line for my liking.I hated him because he was so cold Duh vamp I know but you could tell that he really cared for Juliet but although there was a part to play He played it too well But then he would do something that would make me love him again.Juliet is a blood virgin bought at auction she has been trained the last twenty two years to fulfil her sire s fantasies even it leads to her death she has been programmed to acquiesce.I really liked Juliet and under normal circumstances she is not my kind of heroine But due to the dystopian setting here and her upbringing her behaviour and lack of understanding fits. The Chemistry between Darius Juliet is incinerating but there were times where I struggled Juliet is trained to submit and to respond to all vampires which happens because of her conditioning I fully believe what Juliet feels for Darius At times I felt that Darius reciprocated but fully at the end Writing, Plot PaceThe Blood Alliancespecifically the vamps has mutated to something truly horrific But there are key players who want to give humans their rights back and Darius and his mates Ivan and Trevor only to name a few A slight warning here it won t be for everyone There is blood sharing with other vampires. Some things were repeated on and off which I found annoying because that had already been mentioned maybe if the exact words had been copied and pasted it would be different. The author gave us so much emotions and a truly unique plot that the ending felt somewhat anticlimactic to be honest Nevertheless, the world that has been created is fantastic The author put a lot of thought into it to make sure that it stands out compared to all of the vamp books out there But in my opinion, it could have been. The VerdictWhy did I read this book Well I signed up for book 2 kind of hard to read book 2 when you have no fucking clue what the overall plot is Usually not a fan of the fang but here I am a fan of the fang It s a twisted and bloody world but I like it What a refreshing take on vampires Chastely Bitten has all the conceptions of a typical vampire story in the fact that they drink blood But how they acquire it, the fact that vampires aren t a myth or legend but the real deal and the fact humans who once ruled the world are now bred like cattle for sustenance and slaughter, is a very good story thing you can believe in is that humans, herself included were not meant to grow old and grey She s been taught to behave a certain way lest she be punished She s one of the thousands of humans bred to be whatever a vampire chooses them to be, and she s come to terms with it because there is no other way to live Freedom is a desire that isn t hers to have Enter Darius His purchase of Juliet, changes her outlook and belief system in a way that the reader definitely doesn t expect What a thrilling and innovative idea this author has created The way she builds you up, you expect the worst so you dream the good but sometimes that s not the case and the worst is the worst and the good is the good But then suddenly, BAM something comes out of the woodwork and your whole point of view changes I was expecting to like this story, I wasn t expecting to fall completely in love with it There s so muchto this story than meets the eye and I cannot wait to find out what All you PNR and Lexi C Foss intrigued my sense of curiosity its just such an imaginative endeavour and B I signed up to Arc read the next in this series and it s always better to start at the beginning and in this case no hardship at all as this was just fantastic reading. This was a dark dystopian read A world in the future where Vampires and Lycanthropes are now top of the food chain and humans are cattle without any rights whatsoever and solely reduced to property totally at there masters will.Juliet because of her unique bloodline is a blood slave raised with a single purpose to serve a highborn master for however short a time that may be.With her unique addictive flavour, these humans are the cream of the crop and sell for top dollar.Purchased at auction by a new master with his own hidden agenda Darius has a special assignment in place for his new blood slave.Dark, dirty and decadent Chastely Bitten was such an intense experience and at times I felt a deep sense of dread down to the bottom of my very soul The pathetically short and horrendous lives these humans get to live out well death actually seemed like a small mercy offered up in comparison to there ongoing suffering. So this was narrated in dual Pov which I do prefer.Darius out of the two was the one I took longer to warm up to mainly because of his end game which involved using Juliet to accomplish his hidden agenda. There were times he was so single minded and coldly focused on his goals even to the detriment of Juliet s own personal safety that I struggled to like him.Though I did get why he was this way as the importance of his agenda and the role he expected Juliet to play was bigger than his own wants and needs it still was hard to take his disregard though.Juliets confusion as she tries to overcome her conditioning while still at times having to portray an outward role for the benefit of others perusal was expected. She is no longer a simple sheep but starting to think for herself which is entirely Darius s intention but he really wants her willing cooperation in these things and not just her blind obedience. It s understandable that she struggles to some degree with this after years of indoctrination at the hands of her masters So there were some scenarios here that I wasn t much a fan of namely the blood sharing of Juliet. It s for a reason other than just pure gratification so even though I didn t like it personally I could still deal somewhat. This was also as you would expect quite dark in places in regards to the current ongoing practices employed by the supernaturals towards the humans. In my opinion, this is a great start to this series there s an underground rebellion of the current system underway and I am ever so interested to see in what direction this is heading. This really did set the stage brilliantly for future story progression a great read that I am happy to recommend.Reviewed By Beckie Bookwormhttps www.facebook.com beckiebookworm She definitely let her inner dark and dirty girl out to play I guess I should have expected no less with Vamps and Lycons ruling the world and humans are used as mere playthings and a source of sustenance There is biting, blood and lots of sexy There is injustice, villains, and champions There is rage, sorrow and healing But most of all, there is a story rooted in the dark world and an author who stayed true to that world and gave us a story full of the horrors of injustice but left us with hope for a better future.Me being me, I had a hard time with the submissive nature of Juliet and the superiority of Darius While Darius is fighting, in his own way, for humanity, he still believes his race is superior and while Juliet does breakout of her brainwashing some to find courage and a sense of self, it doesn t quite get to a point where I m comfortable And maybe, I shouldn t be Maybe that s the point Change takes time and every being has flaws These two are working towards a better future and in a horrific world, maybe that s good enough.Overall, I m very intrigued with this world where vamps aren t in hiding and human s aren t in control It s unique and I can t wait to see where Lexi take us and these characters next 4.5 StarsThis story is the first in a new series for Lexi This one we have the vampires and lycanthropy ruling the earth and humans are basically
