the series, and I am so glad he got his own story He was just as jaw dropping handsome as his brothers, and as determined, loyal, and protective The heroine, a strong, independent and headstrong course, they fall in love and agree to get married within the week type of thing, but it was very well done anyways and had a lot of touching moments The only sad thing about A Cowboy Unmatched was that it was only a novella, and not a full novel It was WAY too short, I wantedof those characters Book 1 of A Match Made in Texas series and Book 3 of the Archer Brothers series, by Karen Witemeyer Highly recommended If you ve read and liked Short Straw Bride and Stealing the Preacher, do not miss this one D Aaaaaaaaah Sorry, I didn t mean to scream Well, actually, I did Sort of I just finished started this book was Yes She wrote a book about Neill My next one wasn t as pleasant Oh no It s going to be terribly short and I m not going to like it at all Then I unplugged the not so positive part of my brain, put all other thoughts aside, and just READ Oh, how I love doing that To my infinite relief, Neill is exactly as I d envisioned him I suppose I somehow got the absurd thought that he d be different because he didn t have his own novel He s charming, adorably sweet, ornery as he says , loyal, and wonderful I see a little of Travis protectiveness peeking through his character and find that sweet too.Clara is great as well Kindhearted, independent, and loving I think she and Neill are awesome together As Meri says Yes You are definitely the right woman I like the Just until dawn part Too cute.Mack You know, I didn t find him as irritating as the other bad guys in Karen s books Probably because he softened in the end Not quite sure whether I like that or notWhile I really enjoyed this novella obviously , I do have one complaint It was too short Don t get me wrong, Karen did an awesome job as usual The characters were appropriately developed There was a delightful amount of adventure and romance And the return of the beloved Archers was awesome, of course But it cut my romantic adventure time shorter They had to fall in love within a few days, though she wrote it to where it didn t seem nearly as rushed as it was And I read it within the space of two hours.Oh yeah, onething I don t know if this is just me, but this novella didn t seem as faith filled as the other books by Karen Witemeyer Perhaps it was just because of the lack of space provided, but whatever it was, I don t care for it Our faith must be apparent in all things This review was first posted only one unmarried Archer brother remaining, the baby of the family, Neill Archer, so I was both pleased to see that his story was available, and sad that it was only a novella length story.Neill is sick of being seen as a boy by his brothers he s 28 years old now and he s planning on setting up a place of his own, in partnership with his friend Josiah While Josiah stays at home and works there Neill is travelling from place to place getting what work he can He arrives in a new town and makes it known that he s looking for work He finds a note asking him to replace the roof for Mrs Danvers, a widow He envisions a poor, defenceless old lady, and when he sees the rickety shack she s living in, he is indignant on her behalf. However Clara Danvers is not what he d imagined She s a mere 20 years old, heavily pregnant, extremely unfriendly and the most exotic beauty Neill has ever set eyes on The attraction between them is mutual, but Clara has been hurt before so she s not interested in finding herself a manThis man s eyes were warm and honest Kind And they had lovely green flecks that added a sparkle to the brown depths Clara took a step back No need to look that close He was a workman, nothing else The only thing Clara is focused on is preventing her father in law from stealing her baby when it s born For this she needs to keep her guard up at all times for a physical attack or kidnap, and she also needs to make sure she doesn t set a foot wrong, as her father in law is seen as a pillar of the community So she needs her shack to be in good condition She s done what she could to maintain it, but she has limited materials and tools and she physically can t manage to fix the roof Clara is of Comanche blood, so a lot of the townsfolk are wary of her, she has no family, now no husband, and no friends, aside from the anonymous benefactor who sent Neill to her.Reluctantly Clara accepts Neill s help, and despite herself she begins to warm to him, telling him the sad tale of how she ended up alone and the wife of a man who married her for really hurtful reasons She isn t filled with self pity, though Clara is just getting on with things, and focusing on protecting her babyClara Danvers was no fragile flower She was a coyote who d learned to scrape and scavenge and protect what was hers Neill is desperate to protect Clara, both out of compassion to keep her and her baby together, and also because he s decided he wants to marry her Aside from the fact that he can see she is full of admirable qualities and beauty there is also something else drawing him to herNo one had ever needed him before, not to this extent The youngest of four brothers, he d always been included yet never felt truly essential Until today Clara needed him Although I really enjoyed this story, I couldn t help but feel that it was just too short The relationship between them developed too quickly In one respect, this made sense because there was a limit to how many days he could stretch out working on her house, and since she was heavily pregnant there was a timescale there too, but I think the story really could have benefited from being longer The story only covers a short timescale but I would have likeddetail, for example, there is a 2 day journey which is described in just a few pages, when I would have liked to see their relationship building I also felt the pacing was uneven it starts out at a moderate speed then gets faster In common with the other Archer books this book has Christian themes, but they are not explored in great depth. We see the other Archer brothers too, but unfortunately only very briefly I d really recommend reading this book, both to find out what happens to Neill and because even though I felt it was too short, it s still a really good story You can buy this story on its own as a novella but be warned, there is a sample at the end, meaning you get a gaaaaaaah moment when you reach 58% and the story is over , or as part of an anthology called A Match Made in Texas which also has stories from other authors I was first introduced to the Archer Brothers in Short Straw Bride and Stealing the Preacher, so I was very excited to get back to their family in this story Karen Witemeyer did not disappoint I love her writing style and the fact that she could condense what could be a novel into a novella without losing quality is amazing Neill and Clara s story is swift, sweet, and action packed from beginning to end It s a great start to the novella collection |EBOOK ☨ A Cowboy Unmatched ⚔ Neill isn t sure Witemeyer s novels I would have to say she is my favorite author as far as historical fiction goes and I absolutely loved this novella A Cowboy Unmatched was my favorite out of all the novellas I ve ever read, Both in the A Match Made in Texas novella collection and others , and possibly on of my list of top three favorite books by Karen Witemeyer While I normally love how novellas are short and top three favorite books by Karen Witemeyer While I normally love how novellas are short and make for quick reads, I ve never really encountered a novella or book where I really wished the book was longer, so it won t have to end I really felt that with this novella.I just loved the characters I ve read all the the Archer Brother novels that have been released so far, and have absolutely fallen in love with this family and these hard working, God fearing cowboys that are a true force to be reckoned with So getting to seeof Neill was wonderful, and I thought his story with Clara was just perfect I loved the western feel to this novel, and how the story though in my opinion too short played out I was really surprised with how much I liked this novella and am proudly putting it on my list of favorite books read in 2014 I bought this novella yesterday and read it during the night and I loved it I love Neill just as much as his brothers Travis and Crockett Though I do wish it had been a full length novel I did not want the story to end at all I also loved the Native American aspect of the story Myself being part Choctaw I always love to see this in Historical Fiction I am very sad to see the Archer Brothers series end, but do look forward to Karen s next novel Whatever it may be I will read it My issue n I bought this novella yesterday and read it during the night and I
