This was written for a younger audience, but I found it just as absorbing as an adult A light in tone , fun SF romp which was the perfect literary palate cleanser. Okay, time travel stories are hard Few people understand the physics of the current theories and the theories themselves are contradictory So when the science itself is so tenuous the fiction which uses it has to berobust It has to withstandscrutiny Or it has to befun so the reader will set aside holes in the theory let alone holes in the plot This one is fun The main character was a bit sketchy alone holes in the plot This one is fun The main character was a bit sketchy for me initially A 19 year old who first gave me the impression most teenagers do Quick, solve all the world s problems while you know everything But he quickly realizes that he s in way over his head And he keeps on plugging away, eventually relying on his common sense even if he doesn t know his history as well as the average teenager which is to say not very well at all to overcome his obstacles Questions arise They always will, especially in a time travel story Having faith in an author you ve never read to answer them before the end is a leap of faith But if you do he will answer the biggest ones And in an interesting way But not all, since sequels and series are really the goal for a writer, aren t they P Try it, you ll enjoy it I think Time travel one of literature s most confusing and certainly one of its most entertaining genres It is almost always associated with aliens, space travel, and futuristic themes Knot in Time is definitely no exception Beginning in the present year of 2012, the characters in this book travel through vast periods of time In the book, a young man named Darius Heisenberg is inducted into a group called the Keepers A Keeper s job is to preserve different threads of time Think Green Lantern Co Time travel one of literature s most confusing and certainly one characters in this book travel through vast periods of time In the book, a young man named Darius Heisenberg is inducted into a group called the Keepers A Keeper s job is to preserve different threads of time Think Green Lantern Corps but instead of fighting against the color yellow, they just make sure time goes how it s supposed to go They recruit from different alien species who their mysterious leaders deem to be most suitable for this task The story starts with the recruiting of the first ever human Keeper Darius Heisenberg.Time travel in and of itself is a confusing and complex notion that, often than not, leaves readers withquestions than answers I think that any author with the guts to take on such a difficult plot will have a very hard time, especially when you take it a step further, introducing an infinite number of threads of time, as well as an organization that has the ability to be outside of time itself Bringing all of this into a single book would be a very difficult thing to do, while still having your readers able to understand what s going on And thus, my great respect for Mr Alan Tucker, for he has done just that in Knot in Time Mr Tucker knows exactly how to write a book that people just want to keep reading This book is packed with non stop action and suspense, and will you finish it, you ll wonder to yourself where all those pages went, wishing that you could have them back. When reading about time travel, many would wonder about the Grandfather Paradox, which According to Wikipedia goes as the following The time traveler went back in time to the time when his or her grandfather had not married yet At that time, the time traveler kills his or her grandfather, and therefore, the time traveler is never born when he or she was meant to be Well, Mr Tucker dismisses this problem with what, in the book, they call time threads These rules of time travel state that if somebody were to go back in time and kill their grandfather, they would simply create an alternate thread , changing the course of the universe for that one strand of time, while leaving your own strand untouched Of course, that all makes perfect sense But seriously, it s easier to understand when reading the book With all of this, Alan Tucker has done it once again He has written yet another book that is both epic and captivating This is definitely my favorite time traveling book, and Alan Tucker has come to be one of my favorite authors This book is a must read for any fans of science fiction It will leave you excited and ready for.Austin Reale like a solid start to a great series, but at the same time it works as a stand alone novel as well. The story itself was definitely interesting While, I knew Dare wasn t the bad guy, the story kept me guessing as to who actually was Tucker really pulled the time line events together and the twists and turns kept the pages turning I also liked the way he decided to explain the time travel and how changing events worked It was complicated, but Knot In Time is a great time travel book It looks like a solid start to a great series, but at the same time it works as a stand alone novel as well. The characters Dare is funny and real He doesn t automatically understand the time travel and all it entails, but watching him learn and grow was very entertaining Also the other characters where just as interesting, even ones that don t get completely introduced Hope is a great example of this She isn t in every scene of the book, but the scenes she is in make me want to knowabout her Overall, this book pulled me in and didn t let me go til the last page While there were some questions that were definitely left unanswered, the ending itself was solid The unanswered questions just created a good set up for the next book in the series It s been a while since I read much science fiction but I used to enjoy it so I thought I d give this book a go.Overall I d say I enjoyed the novel, especially the final third, when it felt like the author had really got in to his storytelling stride, describing the scenes and action well I grew to sympathise with Dare, a character whose self centred nature irritated until he started to develop The only significant negative point I could make is that the pacing is a little uneven The first hu It s been a while since I read much science fiction but I used pacing is a little uneven The first hundred pages were slow, but once the action started it sped up The change in pace came at a point that, when I read it, felt disjointed as though this were two separate stories that had been put together but the join wasn t smooth It also felt a little rushed towards the ending, with an element of deus ex machina I also found some of the early descriptions of Dare s family background and education repetitive and laboured These are minor quibbles and this is an enjoyable sci fi novel, with an interesting premise the author clearly has some understanding of current theories in physics In addition, I especially liked the pahsahni giant hamster aliens and their back story It is a good introduction to Sci Fi suitable for YA audience What a fun read this situation rolling with the circumstances to make the best of it.The story moves forward at a rapid pace which makes for an engaging read Although the characters are fleshed out, I would have liked the author to have shown them withdepth, but finished the book satisfied and anxious to read the next in the series *Book ↽ Knot in Time ⇲ My name is Darius Arthur Heisenberg, but most people call me Dare If my last name sounds familiar, it s probably because of my great great uncle Werner Heisenberg He was a physicist who came up with something called the Uncertainty Principle But listen, Uncle Werner had no idea how uncertain things really are I work for a group, called the Keepers, that label themselves the custodians of time And, believe me, time is a mess It needs all the custodians it can get Which is, of course, why the Keepers selected me, a nineteen year old high school dropout, to join them I recently worked as a janitor for a couple months Perfect fit, right Okay, it didn t make much sense to me either, but I wasn t in a position to turn down a steady job and a roof over my head Besides, all I m supposed to do is travel through time and save the universe as we know it, how hard could it be Yeah, better hold on This could get ugly I ve always been fascinated with the concept of time travel, and when I discovered the main character was named Dare short for Darius with an
